When I looked out on the porch this morning, I saw a kitty relaxing in a ice cream bucket. His name is Rascal. Rascal is actually my cat and is the only surviving kitten from his mother, Mittens, who is also my cat.

Blender Rolls
I made these rolls for Easter. Together my mom and I made two batches, each with sixteen rolls. I have made these rolls many times before. First I put in the warm water, then the oil, and then the egg. Next I put in the sugar, flour and salt, and last I put in the yeast. Then I let it mix in the bread machine and it warms up in the machine so the dough will rise. While the dough is mixing, I scrape off the sides of the container so all the ingredients get mixed, but I usually forget to do that part. After the machine warms up, I unplug it so it won't keep mixing, then let the dough rise for an hour. Once the dough is ready, I take it out of the bowl and put it on the counter ( which needs to have flour on it ). Then I roll the dough out with a rolling pin and divide it into pieces. You can make them as small or as big as you want. After that I take the pieces and shape them into rolls, then let the dough rise for another hour. Sometimes I turn the oven on to warm it up a little, or if the oven is being used, I put it on the burners so it will be warm. After the dough has risen, I heat up the oven to 350 degrees and bake the rolls for 20 minutes. Once they are out of the oven and cooled off enough, we eat them, unless we have to save them for a different time. Here's something that's really fun to do. Take some of your plastic toy animals outside, get ahold of a camera, set up the toys and take some pictures! Here's a bunch of pictures that I took. You don't have to have a big yard, you could take pictures in a sandbox, in the grass, you could take some in the garden, but get permission first.
A few photography tips: Make sure that the toy is in focus ( not blurry ) instead of the background. Be careful and make sure that your shadow isn't in the picture. Try not to get people or animals in the picture, unless you want them there. It was kind of hard for me, the cats kept walking in front of the camera! Think about it you want a sunny picture or a cloudy picture. After you are done taking pictures, you could write a story to go along with them. It doesn't have to be a long story, it could just be one page long! If I wrote a story to go along with my pictures, I might say that the horses are miniature horses, living in our yard. The horses and other miniature animals can talk to each other. There is a big white tiger and he's out to get them. The horses have to run away from him. Maybe some of the horses would be on the tiger's side. Finally, the good horses come up with a plan to capture the white tiger and the bad horses. It works and the good horses don't have to fear the tiger anymore. ( Actually, I'm not sure what that plan would be, but maybe you could figure that out.) Maybe I actually will write a story like that. I could probably write a whole series. I hope you take pictures and write some stories too! |
