This drawing was really fun to draw! I first drew everything out in pencil, then drew over the pencil with pen. Then came the hardest and the longest step: coloring everything. But that's also probably my favorite part. I used watercolor pencil, coloring first with the pencil, then going over it with water and paintbrush. I really like watercolor pencil, you can use it like a regular pencil, but when you paint over the pencil it loses its grainy pencil look and looks like watercolor ( I love watercolors ). The coloring for sure took the longest, but I'm really pleased with how it turned out. About the only regret that I have is adding a small extra detail to my favorite room, the library. It kind of ruined it. ( below is a picture of the library before I added the extra detail ) This drawing was inspired by one that my cousin had drawn, which I thought was really cool. So I drew my own.

I decided to try making scrunchies. So I watched a few YouTube videos and tried a few different ways of making them. After a few failures, I discovered a way that works well.
You will need: Fabric Fabric scissors Elastic ( not too fat ) Measuring tape Pins Safety pins Needle Thread Sewing machine (optional, but it will help you get done faster!) Instructions: Cut a 20 inch long and about 3 and a half inches wide strip of fabric. Fold the strip in half, wrong side out, and pin it together. Sew the edges together. ( See pictures to help you understand. ) Now you have a tube of fabric. Pin a safety pin to ONE side of the tube and push the safety pin all the way through the inside of the fabric to the other end. Pull fabric through. Remove safety pin. Cut a piece of elastic about 8 inches long. Safety pin it to one side of the fabric tube and put another safety pin on the other end of the elastic. Push the elastic through the tube, similar to what you did before. Once you have reached the other end, put the two ends of the elastic together and remove safety pins ( DO NOT let go of the elastic. ) Sew elastic ends together. You will want to sew several seams going back and forth to ensure that the elastic will not come apart later. Now put the two ends of the fabric tube together and tuck the rough edges in. Hand sew the ends together. If you know how, use the invisible stitch. ( And try to use thread that matches your fabric. ) |
