While on vacation in Minnesota we visited Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. These are pictures of the conservatory (building with glass roof and walls ) and gardens. There were jungle type plants growing inside, and a fern garden inside also. There was a room set up like a jungle with live animals living in enclosures, except for birds ( they were supposed to be there, they just were able to fly around the room) and some mice that I'm pretty sure were not supposed to be part of the display. They were eating the bird's seed that had been dropped. Outside there was a Japanese garden and a pond right next to the conservatory with lots of really pretty pond lilies. There was also some ponds with flowers and benches and bridges that were fun to see.

July 31 through August 2 was 4H fair. We took all our projects to the fair grounds on July 31, Wednesday, where we talked to the judges. Then we left our projects there until August 2, Friday.
I took a drawing, decorated cookies, a flower arrangement, and a photograph. I was not selected for state on any of my projects, but I did get state alternate on my drawing. ( Read the photo captions to see ribbons received for each project. ) My drawing was probably what I spent the most time on. The photo took less time, I figured out everything for the cookies the night before fair, and the flowers are probably what I spent the least amount of time on. I have done all of these projects ( except for the food decorating ) for at least four years. This is the first time I have done food decorating. |
