Sarah and I got out our dolls and were playing with them. Mostly, Barbie dolls are only fun to make things for, so that's what I do and Sarah plays with them ( and makes stuff ). This time, I decided to try to make Barbie doll shoes. So I looked up youtube videos on how to make shoes. After watching several, I tried to make some. It was harder than I thought it would be. The first pair I made was a pair of sandals, which turned out ok. Then I tried another way of making shoes. First, I put a water balloon on the Barbie's foot, then wrapped the foot in saran wrap. Next, I took the glue gun and poured glue on the foot to make a boot. I let it dry, the cut a slit in the back to take it off of the doll's foot. Finally, I painted the boots with nail polish and glued on some cardboard for the sole and some pink paper for decoration. My very first glue boot failed but I managed to make an ok pair.
I tried several other kinds of shoes, but they weren't that great. We found videos of other things to make and started making those instead. I made purses out of foam sheets and one out of a bottle cap and John made a Starbucks coffee cup and a Coca Cola bottle. I also made a toothbrush, a bottle of toothpaste and a jar of lotion ( or whatever ). It was fun trying to make everything but it was also very frustrating.

I have a lot of sculpey clay and every now and then I like to use some of it up. The downside to sculpey is that it's greasy and it smells terrible when you bake it. The plus side(s) is that you can make all sorts of things out of it and it's different colors. This time I mostly made things for our polly pockets. The sandwiches were probably the easiest to make. After the things were baked I used craft paint and pencils to add details. Then we played with the stuff.
The last picture is of some 3D printed swords that I told Sammy and John to print off for me. Then I painted them. We also used them for polly pockets. |
